2013 Accomplishments


  • Finished construction of the Cache Creek Library with a Grand Opening on June 26, 2013
  • Finished construction of the Logan Lake Library with a Grand Opening on October 17, 2013
  • Hired a new Head of Reference
  • Hired a new Youth Services Literacy Librarian
  • Hired a new Reference Librarian
  • Issued an RFP for a new integrated library system and selected Innovative Interfaces, Inc.
  • Issued an RFP to initiate a new strategic planning process and selected Verlaan Engagement Services and Training
  • Increased overall circulation by 3.64%, which was our second best year in the last decade
  • Increased e-book circulation by 79.23%
  • Replaced the carpeting and improved lighting at the Clinton Library
  • Repainted the Chase Library and the Barriere Library

 

2013 Activities


  • Started a new children’s program at the North Kamloops Library called Read, Sing, Play, targeting children ages 4 to 5 to better prepare them for kindergarten
  • Started a new teddy bear Storytime children’s program at the Cache Creek Library
  • Conducted a pilot project to lend toys at the Clearwater Library
  • Expanded science programs at the Merritt Library
  • Celebrated Family Literacy Day
  • Expanded Summer Reading Club programs at a number of branches
  • Started the Family Playroom program at the Kamloops Library
  • Expanded children’s programming on Sundays at the Kamloops Library
