Electoral Areas “L” & “P” Official Community Plan 2024

Overview

An Official Community Plan (OCP) is the vision a community has for its future. It contains goals and policies that will shape future land use in a way that reflects the community’s vision. These goals and policies form a framework used by the TNRD Board of Directors, Regional District staff, other agencies, and community members to guide decisions on future land use.

In March of 2024, the TNRD initiated the process to create a new OCP for Electoral Areas “L” and “P”. This work will be done in accordance with the Local Government Act which specifies the purpose, required content, and adoption procedures of an OCP Bylaw.

The new OCP will cover the entirety of Electoral Areas “L” and “P,” and replace three existing OCPs that cover portions of both Electoral Areas, that are listed below:

  • Kamloops North OCP: Adopted in 1987, with significant amendments in 1993, 2010 and 2011. Covering McLure, Vinsulla, Heffley Lake and surrounding areas.
  • Kamloops South OCP: Adopted in 1996 with significant amendments in 2010 and 2011. Covering areas bordering the City of Kamloops southern boundary including Knutsford, Jacko Lake, Beresford, and Rose Hill.
  • South Thompson Valley and Pinantan OCP: Adopted in 1996, with significant amendments in 2010 and 2011. Covering areas within the South Thompson Valley including Pinantan Lake, Paul Lake, Rivershore, Monte Creek, and Pritchard.
