Notice: Electoral Area “B” Curbside Collection Delayed Due to Break-In

Kamloops, BC – May 1, 2024 –The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) is informing customers in Avola and Blue River that curbside collection will be postponed for the next week. This is due to an overnight break-in at the Blue River Eco-Depot resulting in damage to the collection vehicle, which will now need to be repaired.

The following collection dates are affected by this postponement:

  • May 1, 2024 (Blue River)
  • May 3, 2024 (Blue River)
  • May 6, 2024 (Avola/ Blue River Businesses)
  • May 8, 2024 (Blue River)

All curbside waste can also be accepted at the Blue River Eco-Depot. Customers are encouraged to take their waste to this facility if they cannot hold onto materials during this postponement. Please note that while curbside collection is postponed, tipping fees will be waived for local residents who are dropping off their curbside refuse as long as they provide the origin of their waste (i.e. a street address).

Further information will be provided if collection dates will be postponed beyond May 8, 2024. We apologize for this inconvenience and for the short notice of this postponement due to the nature of the incident.

The TNRD provides curbside waste collection in Avola and Blue River in Electoral Area “B” (Thompson Headwaters) and in Cherry Creek, Tobiano and Savona in Electoral Area “J” (Copper Desert Country).
