TNRD Emergency Operations Centre Information Update – July 22, 2024

Evacuation Status

As of Monday, July 22, 2024, there are approximately 97 addressed properties on Evacuation Order and approximately 213 addressed properties on Evacuation Alert within TNRD Electoral Area “I” (Blue Sky Country), the Village of Ashcroft, and Spences Bridge, due to the Shetland Creek fire. Any future changes to the status of orders or alerts will come at the recommendation of the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).

There are also Evacuations Orders and/or Alerts in place for a number of neighbouring jurisdictions of the TNRD, including the Cook’s Ferry Indian Band and Ashcroft Indian Band. For updates on orders and alerts in each jurisdiction, please refer to the respective local government.

Current order and alert notices can also be found on the Emergency Info BC website by clicking here.

If your primary residence is under Evacuation Order, you can register for Emergency Support Services (ESS) online and at your closest Reception Centre.

The TNRD utilizes Voyent Alert! to send emergency information directly to Electoral Area addresses that are impacted by Evacuation Orders or Evacuation Alerts. For more information on Voyent Alert! for the TNRD, please visit: tnrd.ca/voyent.

Damage Assessments

The TNRD EOC has completed preliminary Damage Assessments within the Venables Valley, impacted by the Shetland Creek wildfire.  As of yesterday, Sunday July 21, 2024, there are confirmed impacts on slightly over 20 structures, 6 of which have been identified as primary residences.  Damage assessment numbers in the area impacted by the Shetland Creek wildfire are preliminary at this time due to continued fire activity. The TNRD EOC has worked with a community liaison to ensure impacted residents are informed about next steps in recovery.
